Collection on Waltham Hospitals and Medical Centers
Scope and Contents
This collection contains materials related to numerous hospitals and medical centers in Waltham, Massachusetts, including Waltham Hospital (and its successors), Waltham Baby Hospital, Maristhill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Metropolitan State Hospital, Middlesex County Hospital, and Murphy Army Hospital.
The bulk of materials in this collection pertain to Waltham Hospital and its various iterations in the late twentieth century - Waltham-Weston Hospital, Deaconess Waltham Hospital, and Boston Children's Hospital at Waltham. Most of this bulk is made up of annual reports, but also included are historical information, publications, and newsclippings about the sale and potential development of Deaconess Waltham Hospital in the early 2000s.
Another large portion of the collection is made up of annual reports from the Waltham Baby Hospital.
