City of Waltham Charters and Ordinances
Scope and Contents
This collection contains copies of the charters and ordinances of the City of Waltham, as well as revisions to those documents that were published over the years.
The earliest item in this collection is an 1872 copy of the By-laws of the Town of Waltham, before Waltham was incorporated as a city.
Of particular interest is the proposed charter for the city, bound in a book with handwritten records of the committee who drafted it for Waltham's incorporation as a city in 1884.
The most recent materials housed here are from 2014, and not all revisions and related documents are necessarily held in this collection. Contact the Waltham City Clerk's office for the most current charter and ordinances, and for any documents that might be missing from this collection.
